Intensive Care: Information and Visiting Rules for Patients' Relatives
- Intensive care visits take place every day between 13.30 – 14.00, provided the intensive care unit is suitable for visiting.
- Because of our patients' critical condition, only 1 first-degree relative is allowed to visit a patient in intensive care, and child visitors are not admitted.
- Before entering intensive care patient rooms, apply hand antiseptic and put on a visitor gown, cap and shoe covers.
- When you go to the patient's bedside, use the hand antiseptic beside the patient to disinfect your hands. Patients in intensive care should be visited for 5–10 minutes under nurse supervision. Please be aware, however, that in emergencies you may need to leave intensive care earlier.
- Information about the patient's needs can be obtained from the intensive care charge nurse and the patient's nurse, while information about their medical condition can be obtained from the patient's doctor.
- Please do not wait at the intensive care entrance before / after the visit.
- During the visit, do not speak loudly; if the patient is conscious, do not have them talk on a mobile phone; do not take photos or videos of the patient or the intensive care unit with a phone; do not touch the patient; and do not sit on patient beds.
- At the end of every visit, hands must be washed and/or cleaned with hand antiseptic.
- At the end of the visit, the visitor gown, cap and shoe covers must be removed and placed in the soiled linen basket.
- All phone numbers for reaching intensive care, and detailed information about phone call and visiting hours, should be obtained from the relevant intensive care secretariat, the information desk staff or the nurse.
