In addition, patients with chronic kidney disease and people with prostate cancer can also see urologists. The Urology department also deals with acute renal failure, urinary incontinence and bladder control disorders. People with reproductive tract or kidney problems should always consult a urologist once symptoms appear. Following the examination here, surgical interventions can also be performed if considered necessary.

What Diseases Does Urology Treat?

The Urology department generally deals with disorders of the reproductive system. In men, urinary tract infections and prostate diseases are treated. Urinary tract tumours, urinary tract stones and urinary diseases are also treated. The Urology department also treats urinary tract infections and kidney stone disease in women.

Women with acute renal failure or genital warts also need to see a doctor in the Urology department. Women with conditions such as nocturnal enuresis and urinary incontinence also go to the urology department. Following examinations in urology, surgical intervention can also be performed if necessary.

What Do Specialists and Doctors Treat?

Urology doctors generally deal with the treatment of disorders of the reproductive system. In addition, for any kind of urinary tract disorder, it is essential to see a urologist. Both men and women can be examined by a good urologist when they have reproductive or urinary tract problems. Urologists also generally deal with kidney diseases, which have become more common in recent years. People with urological diseases can also see a good Urology Specialist. A detailed examination is carried out for all diseases.

Little-Known Facts About the Urology Department

The Urology Department deals with diseases of the kidneys, urinary ducts, bladder, prostate, penis and seminal vesicles in men. In women, urologists deal with every reproduction-related organ apart from those involved in sexual activity. Medical and surgical interventions for conditions arising from the reproductive and urinary tracts are performed by urologists. In general, as soon as symptoms appear relating to inflammation of the reproductive tract, congenital abnormalities or cancers, it is essential to consult a urologist. Urologists deal with these disorders and diseases. For this reason, people with these diseases should definitely see a good specialist.

What Are the Duties of Urologists?

Urologists deal with the urinary system in women and men. In addition, urologists examine the male reproductive system. Urologists deal with all organs such as the kidneys, ureters, bladder and prostate gland. For the diagnosis and treatment of all these diseases, you should always see a urologist. When there are symptoms of disease, it is advisable to see a urologist without delay. Afterwards, surgical intervention can be performed if necessary. Doctors receive six years of medical education, followed by five years of urology specialty training. After this training, they begin practising in order to provide the best care to their patients.

Kidney stones are one of the most common diseases today. Kidney stone disease is very common in both men and women. Stones form in the kidneys especially as a result of an unhealthy diet and excess weight. Sudden pain in the kidney causes certain symptoms to appear. When these symptoms appear, you should always see a specialist urologist. The form of treatment is determined after the examinations. The duration and type of treatment may vary for women and men depending on the condition of the disease. The examination is carried out accordingly.

The urology department treats diseases of the urinary tract and bladder. The Urology department, which treats the seminal vesicles, kidney stones and Addison's disease especially in men, is visited by women mostly because of kidney stone disease. You should go to Urology based on the symptoms of the disease.

What Is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)?

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a health problem that arises after the age of 40, and especially in the 60s, as a result of the prostate gland enlarging and its obstructive effect on the urinary tract increasing. Growth of the prostate gland can obstruct the flow of urine and lead to urinary symptoms. The symptoms of prostate enlargement may be as follows:

  • Needing to urinate frequently
  • Getting up at night to urinate
  • Straining and a burning sensation when urinating
  • A feeling that urine remains in the bladder and that it has not fully emptied after urinating

Treatments for prostate enlargement

At our hospital's urology clinic, we follow the latest technological developments in prostate enlargement and perform all surgeries and treatment methods.

The treatment options we offer for prostate enlargement at our clinic:

  • Medical treatments using medication
  • Conventional TUR surgery
  • Laser enucleation surgery (Holep-BiPolep)
  • REZUM water vapour therapy

What Is Rezum (Water Vapour) Therapy?

Rezum therapy is a minimally invasive treatment method that modern technology offers for treating prostate enlargement. In this method, the energy of water vapour is used to reduce the size of the prostate gland and to increase the volume and rate of urine flow. Rezum therapy is applied to relieve the symptoms of prostate enlargement and normalise urinary function, while causing the patient no side effects.

Why Should I Choose Rezum Therapy?

Rezum therapy has many notable advantages:

  • A minimally invasive method: This means that no large surgical wound, incision or similar procedure is made on the patient's body. The procedure is short. It is usually performed as an outpatient treatment, and the patient is discharged the same day.
  • Fast recovery: Depending on the size of the prostate, patients can return to their normal activities within a few days.
  • Few side effects: Side effects such as URINARY INCONTINENCE, bleeding, anaesthesia-related risks, sexual dysfunction, erection problems and RETROGRADE EJACULATION are not seen. Patients' sexual function continues unchanged from before the procedure.
  • Effectiveness: Rezum therapy relieves symptoms quickly. After about 1 month, patients' prostate size returns to what it was years earlier, providing long-lasting relief.

Possible side effects of Rezum therapy

As with any treatment or procedure, Rezum therapy may also have some risks and side effects:

  • Temporary side effects: After the procedure, a urinary tract infection, a burning sensation in the urinary tract when the catheter is removed, bleeding or difficulty urinating may occur temporarily.

How Is Rezum Therapy Performed?

We perform the Rezum procedure under local anaesthesia, numbing from the waist down, or sedative analgesia. The procedure is carried out through the urinary channel (urethra) with the help of a thin, single-use, high-tech catheter. With this system, high-temperature water vapour is delivered into the prostate tissue in a controlled manner. The water vapour destroys prostate cells, causing the tissue to shrink. The procedure takes 10-15 minutes and the patient can go home the same day.

The stages of Rezum are as follows:

  • The treatment area is numbed by giving the patient appropriate anaesthesia or analgesia.
  • The Rezum delivery catheter is carefully inserted through the urinary channel.
  • Through the catheter, water vapour is delivered to the appropriate and necessary areas of the prostate tissue.
  • The water vapour ruptures the membranes of prostate cells, causing the cells to die.

Shrinkage of the Prostate Tissue:

  • Over time, the dead cells are absorbed by the body and the prostate tissue shrinks.
  • This process reduces the pressure on the urinary tract and improves urine flow.

The Recovery Process After Treatment

Recovery after Rezum therapy is quite easy and quick. Patients can return to their normal activities within a few days. However, full recovery and complete resolution of symptoms may take 2-4 weeks. During this time, supportive medical treatments should be given and strenuous physical activity should be avoided.
